I would describe the general mood in New York City today as solemn and somber - perhaps relieved - but not celebratory. "You cut off the head of the snake and the snake keeps moving." While no act of vengeance will bring back what our country has lost, I hope that those people, families, and communities that have suffered unimaginable pain can perhaps find closure and solace in the demise of bin Laden. Thank you to the servicemen and women for your immeasurable efforts.
Let us not rejoice in death, but instead the pursuit of peace.
